How Kylie Jenner used the Halo effect to create a cosmetics company worth $900 million.

Kylie Jenner just turned 21 years old recently and while I do not want to sound like a Kardashian Stan we must give credit where it is due and take a few notes along the way.

Why I Quit My First Job.

When all is said and done we regret most a life not well lived. We are a generation of trail blazers, we are labelled as millennials because as technology advanced so did we. Our way of thought and action adapted to a world that was and is ever changing.

Harassment By Fellow Women At The Workplace.

I know this is a sensitive topic and I will be as cautious as I can and still not divert from the point of this article. I have set out on a mission to discuss harassment at the workplace. I will be documenting various feedbacks I receive on my social media platforms to create further awareness on the same. Next article will focus on harassment by men. I decided to start with harassment with women because I have been a victim more than once. It saddens me that the people who are meant to stick by you and understand your struggle can be the cause of your unhappiness and depression. I have documented various replies I have received on the same not just from women but also from men, when it comes to women being bullies in the work place. As we try to establish what is the cause and what are the solutions. We need to realize bullying at work is real and most of the time unnecessary.

We are supposed to support each other or just generally be less hostile to one another in the workplace. Especially considering we have men to worry about. It is just but fair if not reasonable if the person you expect/ receive less unnecessary hostility from in the work place is a fellow woman.

I Tweeted this recently and it sparked a conversation I not only think has long been ignored but should also be addressed as soon as possible. We have to say no to the uncalled for bullying by fellow female colleagues.

My Tweet. “Is there a hash tag for bitter women in the work place, emotionally and mentally abusing other human beings??? Or is this an issue we over look??”

Responses; ( Note the responses are from different people I will specify gender with either W for Women or M for Men).

  • There should be one. I was on the receiving end for 2 years and it was so emotionally & physically draining. Glad I was able to walk out (W)
  • Most of them in their late 30s pushing 40. I have always thought it’s a midlife crisis kind of thing. You can’t stand seeing how intelligent or talented your junior is so you pick on them every chance you get. I went through this in 2015. Never again. (W)
  • I know of a case where one asked a fellow lady “why do you always rush to take ur child to the hospital” the rest was ndrama n vindeo (W)
  • There should be one because I have been on the receiving end of this not once but twice and it just drains you (W)
  • Funny bit I was just thinking about the same thing. Those ones are worse tormentors than anything else. Experienced one yesterday. (M)
  • Had two back on my second contract job. My partner told me I would sleep talk their names in the night. One later died and another was fired and kinda felt nothing for their miseries. I ended leaving that bank because of those women. (W)
  • She used to make snide remarks every time that particular workmate of mine said something about her son… Hata akiwa off let’s say to go to sort school issues the boss would comment on it.. it was so petty and irritating (W)
  • I think it’s usually overlooked but when a man does the same it’s harassment (W)
  • There is only one issue eating up this generation – comparison and a competition mentality. Everyone wants everyone else to believe they are ‘it’, and so we are parading our lives shouting ‘look at me’, while abusing anyone who seems to do better than us. Really petty actually (M)
  • Definitely overlooked. Come back when it’s a man causing trouble (M)

Please speak to somebody if you are being harassed. Let us not keep quiet yet as we can see people resign over bullying. Let us be mature and professional. Most importantly let us realize harassment especially by women is real and be our sisters/ brother’s keeper.

I have been harassed at work and one thing I can tell you for a fact not speaking about it just makes the bully more aggressive. Let us call out wrongs in our organizations that is the only way we can change the future. Inbox me on Facebook your harassment stories and I will share them. I will not share your name. #ItEndsWithMe

Just Because It Is Hard Does Not Mean It Is Impossible.

One December afternoon in 2016 I started #IkoKaziKE, a hash tag popular on twitter that has made job hunting easier. One of the concerns that have been raised is about how in this day and age it is possible to get a job without “Kujuana”. A culture in Kenya that is costing many youths opportunities that they are qualified for.
